[2023/08/10 15:24] Sonja Bikergrrl: you may recall being about to get potato pie, with a rat kebab for a robed/cloaked goblin with a story to tell
[2023/08/10 15:25] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: /me nod nods. "Debben keeps being surprised how civilized this place is."
[2023/08/10 15:26] Sonja Bikergrrl: While Granny Gumph potters about putting out almost clean plates and dishing out potato pie - the potato so fresh you can see the mud on it - the goblin crunches on his rat kebab. "All very bad, big magic user come, use big magic to kill villagers. Some of us think, better to be good goblin, maybe work for humans, maybe better, then not die?"

[2023/08/10 15:27] Sonja Bikergrrl: Megan discreetly scrapes her pie into the pot of a rather large plant, on a table nearby.
[2023/08/10 15:28] Alicia Frakture: Leesha sighed."Makes sense, seemed to mellow granny out." she chuckled.""Once saw her so mad she punched a giant in the crotch because he passed gas near her
[2023/08/10 15:29] Sonja Bikergrrl: As far as you can tell, the goblin is waiting for you to say something more.
[2023/08/10 15:29] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "What sort of magic?" Debbe asks. "Flashy or silent, hot or cold?"
[2023/08/10 15:30] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Big magic!" the goblin says. "Bad magic! Digging up dead humans. Messy magic! It unnatural."
[2023/08/10 15:31] Alicia Frakture: Leesha looked at the goblin. Dropped him so fast and she warned him if he did it again she was gonna shove a cork in there... Cork was a local gnome." She couldn't help but laugh at that."Giant never farted near her again
[2023/08/10 15:31] Sonja Bikergrrl: Megan: "My. What a colourful family."
[2023/08/10 15:33] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Digging up the dead implies some sort of necromancer," she muses, rubbing her chin and giving the potato pie an honest try. Dirt on food rarely slows down a dwarf.
[2023/08/10 15:34] Sonja Bikergrrl: Megan pushes a last lump of potato about. "Sounds ... bad."
[2023/08/10 15:35] Alicia Frakture: Leesha however is eating happily."So you want us to find this magic user or something? Not offering just checking."
[2023/08/10 15:35] ɗίηα ωíƖɗę ღ (dinadrone): /me began to feel more comfortable, until the mention of necromancy, "A necromancer, have only ever read of them and never heard anything good of their studies and practices"
[2023/08/10 15:36] Sonja Bikergrrl: The goblin nibbles at the remains of the rat. "Up to you, I just warn you, like good goblin. Want you to help good goblins escape and take to humans, we work for humans, be good goblins."
[2023/08/10 15:37] Sonja Bikergrrl: (Necromancy, while not necessarily evil, is certainly very frowned upon - medieval people took a very dim view of disturbing the dead)
[2023/08/10 15:38] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben is politely quiet. While a necromancer is not a school of magic she can use, their other foundational magics could be. Items as well. "Actually," she recalls, "There was a knight-prince we met earlier, who was seeking to defeat evil beings. He might be... convinced that you are good goblins, though his men might be the type to shoot first."
[2023/08/10 15:38] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Think he come tonight, help good goblins?"
[2023/08/10 15:39] Alicia Frakture: Leesha paused.and what is this of working for, wouldn't be better to be working with?" She paused listening."No he was heading to the city, back where we came from. he probably has his hands full with a haunted ship
[2023/08/10 15:40] Sonja Bikergrrl: "We can no wait! Bad magic user digging up more humans, planning attack with big magic! we think all will die, we no like it dead!"
[2023/08/10 15:41] Alicia Frakture: Leesha looks at her compatriots."What do you three think? Personally I am ready for a fight, if it helps Granny and her friends."
[2023/08/10 15:42] Sonja Bikergrrl: Megan mutters something about potatoes, and about digging up dead bodies
[2023/08/10 15:42] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Was it just the one mage? Did they have any help? Collaborators?"
[2023/08/10 15:43] Sonja Bikergrrl: Gumph: "Maybe better to deal with this before bad neck romancer has big army of dead humans?"
[2023/08/10 15:43] Sonja Bikergrrl: Goblin: "Just one big bad human! Getting dead humans, putting bits together."
[2023/08/10 15:43] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "....just the humans? What about the dead goblins?"
[2023/08/10 15:44] Sonja Bikergrrl: Goblin (who we know is called Gnoink): "We no dead, we no want be dead!"
[2023/08/10 15:46] Alicia Frakture: /me sighs "Okay which way to the graveyard." If I gotta beat this guy up I will, but maybe I can talk them into going somewhere else
[2023/08/10 15:46] Sonja Bikergrrl: Gnoink: "Graveyard? Near humans. But rescue good goblins first!"
[2023/08/10 15:47] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "What, escort them back to the human city?" She rubs the back of her neck. "That.... I'm not very popular there already."
[2023/08/10 15:47] Sonja Bikergrrl: Gnoink: "Here, to human houses. We go to city later."
[2023/08/10 15:47] Alicia Frakture: ooookay directs Me to good goblins first then." She looks at the rest. "I wont speak for you, if you want to hang around here you can."
[2023/08/10 15:49] Sonja Bikergrrl: Gnoink: "Might need friends, many not good goblins. Might be angry!" He then gives directions to a clearing in the forest, several miles away. "Good goblins be there when moon in sky."
[2023/08/10 15:51] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben noms her pie some more, thinking. "We'll have to check the human houses in the day. Which means almost today, doesn't it?"
[2023/08/10 15:52] Sonja Bikergrrl: It is indeed early afternoon, so, you got a bit of time before the goblin rendezvous
[2023/08/10 15:54] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "What are you.... 'good goblins' willing to do to earn your keep with humans? Working the fields? Build walls? Milk sheep?"
[2023/08/10 15:54] Sonja Bikergrrl: "We fight? steal? Maybe mine?"
[2023/08/10 15:57] Alicia Frakture: Mine. Try to enlist, but they are tough on thieves down there. There is bound to be work for ya. like the fields, the walls, the...sheep.. Really Sheep? Goats or cows I can see but sheep?"
[2023/08/10 15:59] Sonja Bikergrrl: (It's hard to see even "good" goblins getting very far with humans, since they are after all pre-disposed to evil, but, orcs have partially mingled with humans, and, there are bad humans, quite apart from eg., thieves guilds, or maybe sewer workers at a pinch. Who can tell?)
[2023/08/10 15:59] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "They're shorter, more goblin sized."
[2023/08/10 16:00] Sonja Bikergrrl: Megan just rests her head in her hands. She can see it being one of -those- times again.
[2023/08/10 16:01] Alicia Frakture: fair enough, again I wont make any of you take part if you don't want to. This is family and a friend of the family which makes it my business to help.
[2023/08/10 16:02] Sonja Bikergrrl: Megan: "I'm in, you'll probably need help with the chieftan again."
[2023/08/10 16:02] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Yeah." She drums her fingers. "Maybe a miltary or mercenary group in need of scouts."
[2023/08/10 16:03] Sonja Bikergrrl: Gnoink: "So, me go tell good goblins be ready!"
[2023/08/10 16:06] Alicia Frakture: /me nods."Yeah, go tell them." she then looks at Megan, "thank you."
[2023/08/10 16:07] ɗίηα ωíƖɗę ღ (dinadrone): /me doesnt seem to have any issue at all with goblins of any align , "This is just getting more interesting by the moment"
[2023/08/10 16:07] Sonja Bikergrrl: Gnoink helps himself to another rat (for the road) and hurries out, ducking under the hood of his cloak and disappears in the direction of the woods
[2023/08/10 16:08] Sonja Bikergrrl: So, what you going to do now?
[2023/08/10 16:08] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "I think we have to go talk to the humans about this. See where things stand."
[2023/08/10 16:09] Sonja Bikergrrl: You head to the village?
[2023/08/10 16:10] Alicia Frakture: /me after we eat of course. granny makes good pie :)
[2023/08/10 16:10] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Indeed!
[2023/08/10 16:11] Sonja Bikergrrl: Of course! After the pie has been eaten or scraped off plates and into plant pots, you head to the village. It's little more than a few farmhouses, loosely clustered about a blacksmithy and an inn. You don't see many people, but the few you do see, do not look happy to see you; they stare and nudge each other, muttering, but look away quickly when you look at them.
[2023/08/10 16:14] Alicia Frakture: Leesha looks around as they move."Friendly."
[2023/08/10 16:15] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "They even have a clear inn," she points, at what might be more of a spare room with a sign on it? is that visible from this distance? "Very odd to be unfriendly so early."
[2023/08/10 16:15] Sonja Bikergrrl: Other than that, typical village day, people in fields, blacksmith hammering an anvil, women carrying laundry
[2023/08/10 16:16] Sonja Bikergrrl: The inn isn't big, considering; but it has patrons and it's hard to imagine it doesn't have rooms, or at the very least, a stable.
[2023/08/10 16:18] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Around how many people would we expect live in this village?
[2023/08/10 16:18] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: or alternatively, how many houses can we count?
[2023/08/10 16:19] Sonja Bikergrrl: A few farmhouses, so, probably twenty, or so. Thirty, at most.
[2023/08/10 16:19] Sonja Bikergrrl: About four, five houses in view, might be a few more out of sight
[2023/08/10 16:22] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Come on, let's go to the inn and ask who is in charge." There being an inn in a place so small still strikes her as odd, even if the blacksmith doesn't. Probably an "all-purpose" metalcrafter rather than a specialist in her estimation.
[2023/08/10 16:22] Alicia Frakture: All right so are we looking for places for them to stay? be easier if we rent land for a night and get them to camp.
[2023/08/10 16:23] Sonja Bikergrrl: It might be a small place, but it's a natural intersection of various trails, there'll be travellers looking for resting spots and of course the village needs a focal point.
[2023/08/10 16:24] Sonja Bikergrrl: Entering the inn, you find a barkeeper and a few villagers. They stop and stare at you; the barkeeper draws himself to his full height and looks at you in disapproval
[2023/08/10 16:25] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Might I know what it is you're unhappy about?" she asks fairly directly.
[2023/08/10 16:25] Alicia Frakture: Leesha raises an eyebrow at the barkeep."What, never seen someone in need of ale?"
[2023/08/10 16:26] Sonja Bikergrrl: The farmers mutter to themselves, and the barkeeper twitches. It's obvious he doesn't want to deal with you, but, he's the one who is expected to, clearly. "What might your business be?"
[2023/08/10 16:29] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "We have news of a proposal that is relevant to your interest," she starts off, glancing over to Leesha hoping to drop this in her lap before setting off the bombshell.
[2023/08/10 16:29] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Aye...?"
[2023/08/10 16:31] Alicia Frakture: Leesha nods. got some beings looking for refuge from a bad guy and are looking for a place to crash before heading to the big city." She pauses."Also can I gget an ale?"
[2023/08/10 16:31] Sonja Bikergrrl: The barkeeper (and farmers) don't look too happy. "We got problems of our own."
[2023/08/10 16:32] Alicia Frakture: What kind of problems?
[2023/08/10 16:32] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "I'm listening." She stands up straighter, not quite reaching their eyes.
[2023/08/10 16:32] Sonja Bikergrrl: There's a definite muttering and the barkeeper looks from you to the customers and back again. "Problems. Not for outsiders and strangers."
[2023/08/10 16:35] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "If we can guess the problem in three tries will you tell us the details?"
[2023/08/10 16:36] Sonja Bikergrrl: The barkeeper leans to one side, clearly reaching under the bar for something, while the others quickly finish their ales. "I think you best be leaving," the barkeeper says.
[2023/08/10 16:36] Sonja Bikergrrl: And on that note: BONG! cliffhanger for next time!
[2023/08/10 16:37] Sonja Bikergrrl: I do need to turn in, still not the weekend yet!
